It is heartbreaking to see the devastation brought by Hurricane Harvey, but it is during moments like this that messages of hope really resonate with the people. Of all the photos that could go viral after the catastropic event, it was a dog carrying a bag of dog food home that really inspired everyone.
In the town of Sinton, resident Tiele Dockens was driving around on a car with his family to check the extent of the damages in the aftermath of the hurricane. That’s when they spotted a Golden Retriever mix carrying a bag of dog food.
They were surprised at the resourcefulness of the doggo and took a photo of him. Dockens shared the photo on Facebook with the hashtag #refugee and did not expect it to go viral!
It received thousands of likes and shares almost instantly. People really needed to see such display of resilience and perseverance.

The dog’s name is Otis, and he was not homeless or abandoned. The dog freaked during the storm and ran away from the family home. He disappeared for four hours.
